LACK OF UPDATES…SORRY

Sorry for the lack of updates here folks. Its been a tough month.

And with the passing of my mother in law last night, the updates on my Lovecraft page will be a tad bit longer in coming. Gonna be a busy week.

Believe me though, the Lovecraft madness is still alive and there is plenty more to come. Please just endue the silence for a another week or so, and I’ll be back full force with more tentacle craziness….

This is  a “real” post….not Lovecraft related.

Thanks for the follow! I've always tried to write screenplays but I can never figure out how to write the camera angles and all that. Do you use a specific program? Any tips?

There are a couple of very good screenwriting programs. I have used two of them: MOVIE MAGIC SCREENWRITER and FINAL DRAFT.

Personally I find FINAL DRAFT the best out there and it’s all I use anymore. Very user friendly and it’s pretty much the industry standard these days.

I only describe in detail any massive or major camera angles that would reveal something important that would really drive the story forward for the reader. You really do not need to describe EVERY camera positioning and angle. That’s really for the director and his DP to decide on those type of things. The main focus (IMO): while still having to adhere to technical industry formats and standards, things like story and dialogue are what will get you noticed as well.

It’s the same for writing actions scenes. IMO opinion it’s best not to get too detailed…..a general overview of what is happening is good enough. The director will decide what he wants to do.

Unless you’re directing your own stuff (LOL) it’s best to leave some details open.

I would suggest looking into some classes or workshops on screenwriting if it’s possible for you. There are also some fairly decent books on the craft. Just beware of people who claim they will read you screenplay and rate it for you….while there are SOME who are genuine….there are SEVERAL that are HACKS.

Hope that helps out. Any more questions, feel free to ask. And GOOD LUCK! It’s tough…I’m still trying to get my name out there!

Wow! I actually have this line within the first three pages of my new screenplay:

“As the camera SHAKES and BOUNCES, we make out HUMAN REMAINS. A lot of them. Bodies HACKED up to pieces, INTERNAL ORGANS proudly displayed, scattered on the floor.”

…and it only gets worse from there……
